The COVID-19 pandemic has brought new challenges, and one of them is difficulty in embracing online learning. Students and teachers who live in rural areas do not have efficient internet access, therefore making the online Teaching and Learning process (PdP) very difficult.

To combat this never-ending issue, Sirius TV is delighted to announce that we will be offering two free channels to the Ministry of Education (MOE) to broadcast educational content for schools in Malaysia.

On the 27th of January 2021, our Group Executive Officer, Tn. Hj. Khairuddin Abdul Rahman made a press release and said in his statement that the offer is part of SMART’s responsibility as the operator of Sirius TV to ease the burden of the public in the face of the pandemic. With the SES-12 satellite used by Sirius TV, rest assured that the public will receive excellent signal quality throughout the country, especially in rural areas.

This offer is also in line with the proposal made by the National Union of Teaching (NUTP) to create an educational television channel accessible to students from all income levels and in rural areas.
